Swing dancing in Kansas City has been experiencing an encore of sorts, thanks to the boundless energy and passion of the dancers who frequently attend live performances and dance events around the city. Whether it’s a pop-up event or a more established weekly tradition, you can find them in the company of musicians and avid listeners, enriching the experience for all. Such fun the times are that, inevitably, they will ask, “where can I find more dancing? I need more.”
That question has an answer, for, on Saturday, September 22, 627 Stomp will christen a new monthly dance event at the historic Uptown Theatre, within their aptly-named Encore Room. With a stage for live band performances, plenty of drinks to spare, and an ample dance floor, the atmosphere is perfect for social dancers and music connoisseurs alike. The music will have something for everyone: straight-up swing, Charleston, balboa, shag, and blend all styles to keep the evening delightfully listenable and eminently danceable.
Come dressed in your vintage best, if that’s your bag. Or, keep it casual.
Swing is what Kansas City does. And will do for always.
