The Charleston is a high-energy 1920s American dance craze. It is a precursor to Lindy Hop and sits near the base of the swing dancing tree. The Charleston consists of a wide range of variations and improvisation consisting of kicks & style! The dance is most often danced to high tempos and is particularly well-suited to jazz/swing music. The best part is it can be danced with a partner or alone (solo)! Today Charleston is just as important to Lindy Hop & Swing as it was then.
